Jack-

You've expressed my opinion exactly, except I take the opposite view. As it is now, we have national policy dictated to us, the urban core and the vast majority of the population, by a bunch of country clodhoppers who think the world was created 5,000 years ago.

I'll take the rats any day.

Jack-

Now you're just making stuff up. Of course he was cleared, cleaned, sanitized and hosed down by all interested parties - those that wanted to see him elected, and those that didn't.

If you want to believe we elect people without any kind of security clearances, you go right on believing that. As you've already stated, you can't even get into boot camp without a background check - but President? Oh, walk right in. We'll check you out later when we've got some free time.

Many people still believe that we never went to the moon, that it was filmed on a Hollywood stage. Who am I to break up their little fantasy world?

Country-

Facts about voter fraud and Abe Lincoln can be found in a number of places: Lincoln by Gore Vidal, Carl Sandberg's, Lincoln: The Prairie Years. Online sites such as Mr. Lincoln & New York - The Lincoln Institute, and one that is fascinating- Ludwig van Mies Institute, an interesting Libertarian blog, especially Lew Rockwell.com, who has a particularly nasty axe to grind with Mr. Lincoln.

You can google or research the many articles about this topic also.

My point wasn't diminish Lincoln's reputation, but to point out that voter fraud and political chicanery have been around since the beginning of tabulating votes in this country.

My favorite voter fraud is still the Electoral College, created to offset the popular vote because our early leaders felt that the American populace was either too ignorant, illiterate or just plain too stupid to make an intelligent choice. Some will argue that it was to balance the poor yet heavily populated North against the wealthy, but less populated South. Sounds like a good press release to me - you choose which one suits your opinion.

Jack-

I guess I missed the detail that you were talking only about Chicago politics - my bad.

In modern history, my number one fraud is the George Bush victory over Al Gore in 2000. Although seriously, how could the vote even be that close? If Gore wasn't such a bore, he should have creamed W.

But the 2000 election is lightweight compared with what we used to do in the good old days. Topping the charts had to be good ol' honest Abe Lincoln - he's not from Chi-town, but he is from Illinois. And we take a day off for this guy too.

During the War between the States Lincoln was known to instruct his military commanders to furlough registered Republicans while keeping Democrats (and any others) in the field, where they could not vote. In border states like Maryland, where there was powerful opposition to the war, federal soldiers flooded the cities on election days and were instructed to vote, even though they were not residents of those states.

Federal soldiers also intimidated voters into voting Republican by menacing them at the polls. As Lincoln biographer David Donald has written, "Under the protection of Federal bayonets, New York went Republican by seven thousand votes" in 1864.

The Republican Congress even created three new states -- Kansas, West Virginia, and Nevada -- to help rig the 1864 election in favor of Lincoln.

Jack -

I disagree-

No. 1 on political con's would have to be GW's phony WMD and the Iraq War. No. 2 Vietnam. No. 3 Iran-Contra, followed in close order by the whole Communist conspiracy crap of the '50's, the S&L bailout - Wall Street bailout - and more.

The most shameful con in American history would have to be the pogrom against Native Americans and slavery.

I think Obama will be way down the list of any political cons. Maybe number 105 if what you say resembles anything even close to fact.

The big fact is no matter where the dishonest dirt bag (bammie) was born his background and his love and involvement with all his other dirt bag RADICALS would be enough to deny him any security clearance, even the most minor clearance would have been denied. This dirt bag we call the bammie would not have even been allowed entry into the U.S. Military just for his shady background alone.

I think you've answered your own question. He WAS cleared-- birth, radical friends, etc., obviously wasn't true in spite of the radical right-wing's attempts to make it so, or he wouldn't have been OK'd a TOP SECRET clearances by the appropriate agencies.

So, what's your point?

It doesn't really make any difference whether you believe or don't believe that the president of the United States was not thoroughly vetted before taking office by the State Dept., FBI, the C.I.A., the NSA, or a host of other agencies responsible for this kind of thing. You either choose to believe it or not. It seems that nowadays Americans are so entrenched in their political bunkers that there is almost no more middle ground.

This was reported a few days after the video:

Kenyan Ambassador Peter N.R.O. Ogego is saying he's "infuriated" by a radio program's efforts to "misquote" him on the subject of President-elect Barack Obama's birthplace – but he refused to confirm whether Obama was born in the United States.

"I'm already infuriated by the whole thing," he said. "The radio itself had a cynicism to it. I didn't mind that, but to misquote me is unacceptable. They are circulating misinformation regarding Mr. Obama's birthplace."

However, WRIF's Mike Clark told WND the show never manipulated the audio recording in any way.

"I can assure you that nothing was edited or stated out of context," he said.

Nonetheless, Ogego insisted he was speaking about Barack Obama Sr., and not President-elect Obama.

"They asked me about Obama's father, not Obama," Ogego said. "This is common-sense knowledge. Nobody is fooling anybody."

I stand by the fact that regardless of where Obama was born; Kenya, Hawaii, Mars - his mother was an American woman from Kansas living overseas. She gave birth to an American.
