Not sure who wrote this.  Obviously it wasn't me but it reflects my sentiments exactly.  The truly needy, sick and injured are being harmed by the lazy sloths who could, but won't, work.

Four birth announcement in today's paper.  None of the four announcements indicate the new Mother and Father have anything more than a casual relationship.  Ergo, four more little babies for the Taxpayer to support.

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of  rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can  haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal legations. Then,  we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and also  document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce, use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military  barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state  of repair. Your "home" will be subject to inspections anytime and  possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox  360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each  week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning  the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing,  whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low  profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the "common good."

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that  all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our  rules. Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their  "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and  lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The  current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

I agree with you, and I did not chime in on the language issue. My family spoke Spanish for 400 - years in Colorado after being conquered by the Spanish, and now my once Spanish speaking family speaks English -the language of the conqueror and the conquered.

However, by the time of Christ, the Roman's no longer spoke Latin, as Greek was the language of choice. One of the many reasons for this occurrence was that Roman women stopped having babies out of vanity. It is written that some told their husbands that if they wanted a child, have one with one of their many slaves (Mostly Greek). Eventually there were more Greeks than Romans.

My point is that Anglo's have gotta have more sex (ha, ha), kidding -official languages change for various reasons and today we are not strict enough enforcing English as the only language of education, business and government. This does not go over well with my "Liberal" friends, but just try and order food at a Chinese Restaurant in Monterey Park, CA, when the menu is all in Chinese! Thankfully a city ordinance was passed to include English - damn government bureaucrats taking away my freedom to be unable to read a menu. (ha, ha)

I took three years of Spanish in high school to get back to my roots - seems to have worked out okay.

I disagree. I said you were a talkative, possibly over educated bore know it all. Hebetudinous is a great word, and as soon as I figure out how to pronounce it I'm going to use it.

(Ha, Ha)

The discussion on the article about the Dream Act was absolutely hysterical, especially when you all started writing in a foreign languages. Bravo, JB, very funny.

Laselva,

Being the predictable and affable dunce you are, I must thank you for the extra Christmas cash. The words you chose, a “word” to be exact does not belong in your sentence, syntax. To example “ the color was blue blue.” LMAO @ U!!!!

Talk about loquacious, pedantically childish gibberish, read your own silliness. At least mine was in jest, although no more idiotic and childish than the, "Put me in charge" article. Saltpork, I truly enjoyed the humor of it though.

Laselva,

Continuing with your hebetudinous exhibitions one can conclude that even with overwhelming preponderance of evidence convicting you of being obtuse, you are incapable of grasping the evident, which is apparent to all readers, except you. Will your childishness never cease?

The folks you describe with the 50" TV, smoking weed, etc. are not the people I'm talking about. The problem as I see it, is that both groups (The needy and the freeloaders), usually get lumped into the same group.

I'm for drafting or inducting the freeloaders, pimps, prostitutes, drug addicts, etc., and putting them to work cleaning up roads, litter, and more while retraining them if that's possible. If all else fails, we have lots of open land that we can fence off and let them fend for themselves. Why heck, they can kees their weapons and cap some elk if necessary. President Sarah Palin can give her latest copy of how to shoot, gut and eat game.

Merry Christmas.

Same old story: Welfare recipients commit a lot of fraud at the expense of American working people.

The fact is that a lot of welfare recipients ARE American WORKING people and the recipients of Welfare are not adults but CHILDREN, who the last time I checked don't work in sweat shops anymore. But all the attention is on the recipients.

A study in Massachusetts showed that vendors committed 93% of welfare fraud. And although the fraud by welfare vendors is terrible, it is a drop in the bucket compared to military fraud, government waste, and corporate welfare. The Savings and Loan bailout cost $132 billion, and the collapse of banks and Wall Street in 2008…it's so huge that they still can't even measure it: one week it's 800 billion, then it's 2.3 trillion.

Among Conservatives and Libertarians, the argument is "The `Welfare State' is a threat to liberty…or Welfare threatens to make all citizens dependent on a central government...or the Welfare system gives government too much power. People who work for their own income are more independent. People who are not taxed to support others are more independent. Therefore doing away with the welfare system will promote independence and liberty."

Do you believe that human beings are interdependent on each other: that we are not only nobler, but wiser, when we help each other out over rough spots? Or do you believe that the human race is stronger when people who can not make it through rough spots on their own are allowed to die? Do you believe that each of us is the beneficiary of countless good things we did not create and gifts we did not earn: electricity, medical hygiene, computer technology, the printing press, to name a few? Or do you believe that you are entirely a "self-made person"?

Do you believe that government is a social compact to keep us off each other's backs, or a social compact to care for each other?
