There is a “scare scam” as I like to call it in its infancy that targets novice or would be gold investors. The Executive Order, 6102 that President Roosevelt issued in 1933 calling in gold is the basic tactic utilized in this fraud.

Fear compounded by a fast talking salesperson armed with tales of Federal Executive Orders are selling old or exempt gold for inflated prices. Most people will check the validity of Roosevelt’s executive Order and will find that it did indeed exist and stop at that.

The truth is that on December 31, 1974, with Executive Order 11825, President Gerald Ford repealed the Executive Order that Roosevelt used to call in gold in 1933.

This was necessary because on the same day Congress restored Americans right to own gold. Furthermore, in 1977 Congress removed the president's authority to regulate gold transactions during a period of national emergency other than war.

At this time there are some of the aforementioned salespeople trying to explain their intentions to Federal Agencies. Glad I’m on this side of the table

Does anyone strain their Goldschlager to keep the gold leaves for investment purposes? After all, times are tough.

I will leave your last post up because it reveals exactly what you are. Let us entertain the thought you actually have a portfolio as claimed. You state QUOTE “Dalemma, my portfolio is fine and doing much better these days. Thanks for your concern.” Let us look at that claim. Your claims contradict one another; allow me to give an example. If and that is a big if, you have a portfolio a firm would manage it for you. Since all “managed” portfolios follow the same-boxed strategies, your claim is a lie. Second, if you managed this supposed portfolio your posts reveal your claims a lie. So, let us cut to the bottom line. Tell us without revealing exactly what holdings are contained in this fictitious portfolio, just list the content as types of assets IE gold = metals. Apparently, you are bullish on the economy therefore leaving out shorting strategies. I say you do not have a portfolio and have no working knowledge of investing

I say you will jump in with some usual backsliding claims of diversification, which is fine if they are listed, or your standard “beck” rhetoric. I state to you that you will not reply with intelligible fact because you know it will reveal your deceptions as I have in the past!

Islander....Do all progressives think that common sense people get their knowledge or ideas from Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin or Rush Limbaugh? If you are a thinking person, as I am, you have a diversified portfolio with gold, silver, stocks, bonds and other sound investments.

Progressives are the party of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Al Gore and lest we forget Charlie Rangel. I bet all those crooks have a gold stash.
