Drought conditions have begun to ease in Karnes County, and with the nation’s cattle herd at its smallest in 75 years, many Karnes County producers have brought up the subject of re-building their herd. There are a number of factors and considerations that a producer must make before a decision can be made. Fitting cattle to their environment is an important consideration in south Texas and Dr. Joe Paschal, Extension Livestock Specialist, to discuss options and considerations that need to be made. Additionally, Dr. Larry Falconer, Extension Economist, will be on hand to discuss the economics of restocking your cattle herd April 18 at 7 p.m. at Falls City Community Hall. Cost is $10 with 2 General CEU’s offered.
