Hundreds of adults and children are expected to participate in the first annual Karnes City Family Fun Day, June 30. This year’s event has been organized as a public/private partnership between the Karnes City Community Chamber of Commerce and The Otto Kaiser Hospital in Kenedy, and other major entities and organizations in the area are also sponsoring the event.
The event will take place at the Karnes City Park at 8 a.m. with a 10K Bike ride and a 5K Walk and Run and everyone is welcome. Attendants will enjoy a wide array of activities including a 26 ft. tall rock climbing wall, a moon walk for the little ones and a water slide. Other activities include special contests like a friendly volleyball match, hula hoop and rope jump. There will be prizes for contest participants. Otto Kaiser Hospital will be performing target assessments like blood pressure, osteoporosis, cholesterol etc. The team from the Dance Studio in Beeville will be performing a few tap, hip hop and tumbling routines, and Christina Bourne from Studio C in Floresville will be holding zumba dance demonstrations.
“This is the first of many years for the Karnes City Family Fun Day. Our main goal for the event is to bring awareness and encourage families to change their lifestyles by starting healthier eating habits and incorporating fun physical activities in their daily lives.” said Patrica Butler.
