Ladislado “Lelo” Barrientez, 94, of Karnes City, died Friday, March 14, 2014, in Kenedy.

Mr. Barrientez was born June 25, 1919, in Runge to Matias and Maria Saenz Barrientez. He and Corina Morin were married on April 17, 1964, in Karnes City. He worked in construction, retiring from Liska Construction of Karnes City.

Survivors include his wife, Corina Barrientez; children, Rose Acosta, Gilbert (Marina) Guzman, David Cordaway, Jerry Barrientez, George (Lydia) Barrientez, Daniel Barrientez, Matias (Gloria) Barrientez, Freddie (Vanessa) Barrientez, Alicia (LeRoy) Casanova, Virginia (Salome Diaz) Gonzales, Eloisa (Adolph) Trevino, Diana (Daniel) Monsivais and Raymond (Kathy Delgado) Guzman; brother, Angel Barrientez; sisters, Aurora Davila and Tomasa Mendoza; 70 grandchildren; and 83 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ladislado Barrientez Jr.; brothers, Marcos and Juan Barrientez; and sisters, Eloisa Barrientez, Dominga Morin and Victoria Barrientez.

Visitation began at 8:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City with a prayer service starting at 7 o’clock that evening.

The funeral service will be conducted there at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, with interment in the Karnes City Latin Cemetery.
