Mary Striba Drees, 97, of Karnes City, died Sunday, March 10, 2013. Mrs. Drees was born October 1, 1915, at Rice’s Crossing in Williamson Co. to Frank and Anna Stiba. She married Andrew Erwin Drees, September 28, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas, and enjoyed 51 years of marriage together. She lived a full life of love and inspired all she knew with her hard work, quick wit, and smile. She lived most of her years as a housewife and mother, while assisting her husband in many duties around the farm and ranch. She was known by various names including, Mrs. Drees, Mom, Grandma Mary and Oma. Her hobbies included gardening, bird watching, spending time with her family, and forever will be “The Domino Champ”. She lived in Berclair, Texas, from 1949-1988. Following her many years in Berclair, she lived in Karnes City, Texas, from 1988-2011. Her final years, she spent living in Beeville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna Stiba; her brothers, Frank, Raymond, Henry, and August Stiba; her sisters, Claire Jozwick and Anne Presley; her loving husband, Andrew E. Drees; and her son, Henry F. Drees.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Drees of Karnes City, Ernest (Anzelma) Drees of Falls City; daughters Marjorie Pierce of Hobson, Sherry (Ken) Walker of Beeville; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren and brother-in-law Linus Drees of Independence, Missouri.

Visitation was held on Wednesday March 13, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City, Texas. Funeral services were held on March 14, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City, Texas, with Rev. Dwayne Burrell officiating. Burial followed at the Hobson Cemetery. Pallbearers: Larrell Drees, Randy Drees, Luther Pierce, Tom Pursley, Marianne Pierce, Michael Drees, Gary and Alan Pawelek and Clay Brindle. Honorary pallbearers were Daryl Drees and Robert Simnacher.
