Regarding the Kenedy Pound

In response to your last newspaper about the Kenedy Pound, I can only say that I have seen many stray dogs roaming the streets with no collars.

A dog that came loose from his chain on 4th Street has personally attacked me.

I believe it is the dog owner’s responsibility to keep their dogs fenced in and/or chained.

I also would remind owners of pets to have their dogs or cats spayed or neutered.

This will keep the population to a minimum.

The City of Kenedy does not control cats at all.

I would ask Council to consider collecting cats as well as dogs; both have the potential to carry disease.

And finally, I would like to see the entire county of Karnes start an adoption agency.

All of our towns are too small for one facility.

Pet adoption, with donations from us pet lovers, would be a far better option than euthanasia.

I hope the article, however graphic, causes animal lovers to act on a humane way to care for the unclaimed animals, and also seek to establish a better means to handle stray pets.
