KARNES COUNTY – According to information from the Karnes County Sheriff’s Department, a Runge resident was arrested recently in connection with the theft of several large pieces of equipment.

Joel Villanueva, 33, of Runge was arrested on charges related to the thefts and deputies are searching for a second subject in connection with these thefts.Villanueva is being held on a probation violation out of Caldwell County in addition to the theft charge.

A $60,000 Caterpillar skid steer loader, a $35,000 John Deere utility tractor, a John Deere shredder and a large air compressor were recovered by deputies during the course of their investigation.

The investigation uncovered that the skid steer loader was taken from a construction sire in Kerrville, and the utility tractor was stolen from the San Antonio ares.

Deputies are continuing with the investigation and they are looking for several more pieces of heavy equipment connected to the thefts.
