Austwell-Tivoli Elementary was awarded six Gold Performance Acknowledgements in addition to its exemplary rating.

The acknowledgements are the result of the large percentage of its students who not only passed but mastered the objectives of the TAKS tests. One of the gold stars was for Comparable Improvement in Reading.

“We are all happy that the majority of our kids pass the TAKS tests,” said Stephen Maldonado, principal. “We are happier with the increasing number of commended scores.”

The Texas Education Agency recognizes schools that show significant gains in test scores in comparison to schools with similar demographics.

The award is given to only the top 10 of the comparison group.

In addition to this award, A-T Elementary received Gold Performance Acknowledgements in attendance, reading, math, science, writing.
