Area youths compete at Texas Youth Rodeo

The Texas Youth Rodeo Association is a non-profit organization committed and dedicated to promoting Texas youth in the sport of rodeo. The TYRA strives to build interest, understanding and appreciation for the Western life, sportsmanship and family involvement as well as holding all of its active members to high academic standards.

Those competing this year from this area are:

George West: Byron Oxford, Cody Oxford, Adan Flores, Alejandro Flores, Mickey Rae Cruz, Heather Harvey, Jamey Warren, Lauren Chapa, Chance Specht and Lee Roy Molina.

Three Rivers: Kyle Otto, Charles Johnston, Amber Rae Henicke and Maria Johnston.

Tilden: Myranda Ruiz, Bailey Swaim, Carly Swaim, Lindey Swaim, Jordan Stephenson and Tyler Gunter.

The season is half over for these athletes. Live Oak and McMullen County should be proud of these fine young man and women.

Event standings can be located at www.TYRA.com. These cowboys and cowgirls will compete next in Alice on May 8 and 9. TYRA state finals will be in Gonzales from July 26 to August 1.
