Nine George West High School students got to do just that as they competed with students from Alice, Beeville, Calallen, Flour Bluff, Gregory-Portland, Mathis, Rockport and Tuloso-Midway at the BPA Regional Conference held at Gregory-Portland High School, Saturday, January 19.
Six of them placed high enough to advance to the State level of competition. The results are as follows:
Tara Liska – 1st, Payroll Accounting
Zeliene Brown – 1st, Medical Office Procedures
Katelyn Keach – 1st, Extemporaneous Speech
Shelby James – 1st, Prepared Speech
Sarah Crawford – 1st, Presentation Management-Individual
Darin Cuevas – 2nd, Keyboarding Production
The Video Production Team, made up of Emily Feist, Gabbie Chapa, and Maitlin Couk – 5th
In the Open Events, which are additional events that are open to all conference attendees, Zeliene Brown placed 1st in Financial Math & Analysis, and Katelyn Keach placed 4th in Parliamentary Procedures.
Advancing to the BPA State Conference in Houston Feb. 28-March 2 are those students who placed in the top 2 in their events.
The group was accompanied by Flo Moore, Chapter Advisor, and Kristy Keach.
