The Karnes City Badgers have struggled since Basketball season began, obtaining a 6-16 record.
But they stayed busy over the Christmas holidays with some district and non-district games, opening district Dec. 18 with a loss to Nixon-Smiley, 43-39. Seniors Philip Vaughan led the scoring with 16 points and Devontrey Forth followed up with 8 points. The boys then had a district match-up in Hallettsville, and lost 67-48.
After the UIL break the boys came back home on New Year’s Eve and played a non-district game against Randolph, and lost 52-46; the team was once again led by Vaughan with 15 points, and followed by senior guard Jacob Puente with 10 points.
The boys opened 2013 with a district loss to Stockdale, 41-27, paced by Vaughan’s 10 points and followed by senior forward Victor Flores with 4 ponts.
The boys faced Luling Tuesday and will play Poth there next Tuesday, Jan. 15, starting with JV at 5 p.m.
