The opening day of deer season is Saturday, Nov. 3, and an event to welcome the hunters will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Lucas-McNeill Pavilion at the Bee County Expo Center.

This is a come-as-you-are event with a free barbecue lunch for anyone with a current Texas hunting license or one child (12 and under) accompanying an eligible adult. All others are $7. No carry-outs.

A free gun will be awarded as a door prize. Representatives from Cesar Kleberg Wildlife Institute will give a presentation on antler development.

Guests and all interested parties are invited. For more information, contact Randy Walls at 362-8034 or visit www.bee-county-wildlife.org.
