ROCKPORT – For the second week in a row, Lady Trojan golfer Anisa Cantu recorded an 86 score for her 18 holes of golf to capture another first place victory.

Last week, Cantu carded her first 86 at the Beeville Classic 2012 golf tournament. Her performance captured first place at that tournament by beating 10 other golfers.

On Monday, the Trojan boys and girls golf teams traveled to Rockport to compete in a tournament.

The difference in the two tournaments wasn’t the scoring, but the number of competitors and the difficulty of the Rockport Country Club course. Cantu’s 86 was the best of 30 girls within the varsity division.

“I was very proud of her performance last week and am twice as proud of her this week. When she showed me her scorecard, I got excited,” said Trojan golf coach Craig Billman.

“I felt she had a good chance of winning another medal. After all the scores were posted, Anisa was number one.”

James Scotten also had a good tournament in Rockport. Scotten shot an 85 and finished seventh overall in a field of 58 competitors from 10 different schools. Last week, Scotten was fourth out of 28 players.

“Both Scotten and Cantu hit some great shots. They both are very long off the tee and have a good short game,” said Billman.

The Trojans’ next tournament will be March 19 at the Beeville Country Club.
