BEEVILLE – The Tuloso-Midway Cherokee varsity volleyball team dispatched the Beeville Lady Trojans in three straight sets on Friday night.

The visiting Cherokees exhibited a good defense and an even better offense as the Lady Trojans had no answer, especially in the first set. T-M jumped to a 9-1 lead and cruised in with a dominating 25-4 victory in the first set to take a 1-0 lead in the best of five varsity match.

The Lady Trojans stayed close in the second set and pulled within two points midway through at 13-11. The Cherokees then outscored the Beeville girls 12-3 over the final minutes to capture the second set 25-14 for the commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

The final set was close early on, but a 6-0 run by the visitors put the Lady Trojans in a deep hole at 14-6, and they never got back in the set. The Cherokees went on to record a 25-13 victory.

Ciara Garcia came up with a couple of kills for the Beeville girls, as did Emma Downing. Cheyenne Del Bosque was able to block one T-M kill attempt during the third set to pull the Lady Trojans close at 8-6 early in the match.

The JHS ladies were at home on Tuesday night to take on the Victoria East Lady Titans. On Friday night, the Beeville girls will travel to Gregory-Portland to tangle with the Ladycats.
