Municipal Judge Joe Salinas has called for a week of amnesty for people who owe fines until Jan. 8.
Anyone who owes an unpaid fine and has an arrest warrant on file can go to the municipal court office at 405 N. St. Mary’s St. or call 358-0260.
Silva said no one will be arrested on an outstanding warrant until Jan. 9 and people who owe fines can make arrangements to pay them off in regular payments.
Those who owe fines and who have arrest warrants on file and who do not take care of them may have an unpleasant surprise after the amnesty week ends.
Silva said Beeville Police Department officers will begin arresting people on those warrants starting Jan. 9 and continuing through Jan. 24.
Police will appear at the offenders’ jobs looking for them. Also, those who have outstanding arrest warrants may find themselves being awakened early in the morning by officers who are there to make an arrest.
