Tami Troell from Simply Charming, Ann Tindol from Tia’s, and Eula Pfenniger from Mae’s Shoppe will serve on the Golad Main Street Board.
The mission of the Goliad Main Street Program is to support a strong, healthy Goliad by fostering overall business development while sustaining a high historic preservation ethic by using the four-point approach developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation: Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Restructuring and thus improving the quality of life for the entire community.
The Goliad Main Street Board meets monthly on the 2nd Monday of each Month and is open to the public to attend.
City council also proclaimed Tuesday, Sept. 11 as Remembrance Day in observance of the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center in New York.
Council also participated in its final budget workshop for the 2013 fiscal year.
The city is proposing to maintain the same tax rate as last year.
The proposed rate is $.6996 per $100 of taxable value of residences. If council maintains and adopts the current rate of $.6696, taxes on the average home Goliad would be $532.54.
