City pool opens with a splash
BEEVILLE – It was a little slow to start at noon, but the pool filled up with kids and adults by mid-afternoon on Saturday as the City of Beeville opened the Bernardo Sandoval Municipal Pool for its summer session.

The pool is open to help all kids keep their cool from noon to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday and then 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday. Reservations also are being taken for private after hour pool parties.

A total of 13 lifeguards will keep the pool safe this summer, and they will all be under the supervision of head lifeguard Amanda Murie. It is her third year at the pool, but the first as the head lifesaver in charge. A team of 4-6 lifeguards will always be on hand to help anyone in distress and to keep the pool and area safe for all those partaking of the enjoyment.

Cost to use the cooling waters of the pool are $2 per person, and one new rule has been instituted this year.

“Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a person over the age of 18.”

“We’re not a baby sitting service, and we need the parents to make sure the young ones are properly supervised by an older family member or someone responsible for them,” Murie said.

A list of all the pool rules is available to read when you enter the pool.

Enjoy a cool, safe summer at one of the coolest spots in Beeville, the lifeguards said.
