Karnes County officials appoint interim county judge during special meeting March 21.
Karnes County's Commissioners Court voted unanimously to accept the resignation of Barbara Shaw from her position as county judge during a special meeting on Friday, March 21.

The court then went into closed session where they discussed privately the appointment of an interim county judge to serve in that capacity until Jan. 1, 2015.

After about 30 minutes in closed session, the court reconvened and the commissioners were given the opportunity to comment. After some comments were made, Commissioner Pete Jauer made a motion to appoint Richard Butler as interim county judge, Commissioner Shelby Dupnik seconded Jauer's motion and the motioned carried unanimously. Butler is an attorney who is a shareholder with Langley and Banack -- a law firm that has an office in Karnes City. See the March 26 issue of The Karnes Countywide for a more detailed story about the meeting.
