KENEDY ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB

The Kenedy Athletic Booster Club will be meeting Wednesday, November 3 at 6 p.m. at Barth’s Restaurant in Kenedy to discuss upcoming events and playoff activities. CHARTER BUS TRIP TO KENEDY FOOTBALL GAME

The Kenedy Athletic Booster Club will be sponsoring a charter bus that will leave at 5 p.m. sharp from the Kenedy High School parking lot for this Friday’s (November 5) district championship game in Ben Bolt. The cost for each passenger is $20. Reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis and can be made by calling club president Christina Benavides at 830-299-2022. All students must be accompanied by an adult. Join us as we cheer on the Kenedy Lions road to victory on Friday.



CO-ED SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

Reyna’s First Fall Bash Co-ed Softball Tournament In Kenedy will be Saturday, November 6 at Kenedy City Park. Entry fee will be $60 per team for the first eight teams. KARNES CITY CEMETERY CLEANUP

The Karnes City Cemetery clean-up will take place Saturday, November 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m if weather permits. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Items needed are lawnmowers, weed-eaters, rakes, hoes and a cheerful heart. If you have any questions, contact Bernice Wides at 210-748-2438.



ANNUAL BAZAAR, CHURCH SALE

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will be holding its annual bazaar and garage sale on Saturday, November 6 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 408 South Davidson St. in Karnes City. Many craft items, Christmas items, baked goods, plants, antiques and garage sale items, as well as tamales and BBQ sandwiches will be for sale. The event will be behind the church in the pavilion.



RUMMAGE SALE

Time to clean out those closets and de-clutter the house. If you are looking for a place to go with all that stuff that you keep saying that you want to get rid of, here is the perfect opportunity to do so. Nixon-Smiley FCCLA is planning a Rummage Sale for November 6 to be held at the Nixon-Smiley Livestock Show Barn. Times for the sale will be determined very soon, but we are ready to start taking your donations. Bring it in boxes, bags, or by the trailer or wagonloads. Plan to come by and collect some new stuff.



KARNES COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The next meeting of the Karnes County Historical Society and the Karnes County Historical Commission will be at the Helena Museum at 6 p.m. on Monday, November 8. Please plan to attend and support the sharing and preservation of our interesting Karnes County history. BLUEBONNET NURSING BREAKFAST BRUNCH

Bluebonnet Nursing and Rehab will be hosting a breakfast brunch on Monday, November 8 at 9 a.m. for their kindness and special care for our loved ones at Bluebonnet.



FATHER LEOPOLD MOCZYGEMBA FOUNDATION GALA

The Seventh Annual Father Leopold Moczygemba Foundation Gala will take place on Sunday, November 14, at St. Paul Community Center, located at 1201 Donaldson Avenue in San Antonio.  The event will begin at 4 p.m. with a piano concert to commemorate the 200th birthday of Frederick Chopin. The performer will be Dr. Jan Drath, music professor, accomplished musician and a Chopin expert. After the concert a dinner will be held to honor the recipients of the FLM award. During dinner, a film will be shown highlighting the 2010 trip to the Holy Land. A silent auction will also be held. The doors will open at 3 p.m. for check-in. GIRL SCOUTS SEEKING DONATIONS

Girl Scout Brownie Troop No. 2722 in Karnes City is seeking donations to help purchase Girl Scout uniforms and to fund its summer camp trip. Daisy uniforms are $38.40, which consists of a blue smock and the patches that represent the troop and council. Brownie uniforms are $40.75 and consist of a brown vest with the patches that represent the troop and council. Junior uniforms are $35, which consist of a green sash with the patches that represent the troop and council. For more details, contact troop leader Monica Gonzales at 830-534-9131.

RUNGE ISD BREAKFAST, LUNCH PROGRAM

Runge ISD offers healthy meals every school day. Breakfast is free for grades Pre-K through 12 and lunch costs $1.50 for grades Pre-K through fifth and $1.75 for grades six through 12. Your children may qualify for free meals or reduced price meals. The reduced price meal is 30 cents for breakfast and 40 cents for lunch for grades Pre-K through 12. WESLEY NURSE EXERCISE CLASS

The Wesley Nurse Exercise Class meets Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays at 12:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Karnes City United Methodist Church. The class is free. We walk indoors (heat/AC as needed!) and include strengthening exercises. Do something good for your body — come join us. You don’t have to be ‘in shape’ to get in shape.
