In response to last Friday’s White House press conference, where President Obama denied that his administration is blocking domestic energy production, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) released the following statement:

“The president can try to claim credit for policies put in place before he took office all he wants, but the reality is that when it comes to domestic energy production President Obama’s words and actions don’t match up. With gas prices rapidly increasing, he wants to tell the American people that his administration isn’t contributing to our energy problem.

“The truth is that after two years of pursuing bad energy policies including cap-and-trade, gas taxes, an 11-month moratorium on permits, and rolls of regulatory red tape, gas prices skyrocketed from $1.84 per gallon to $3.54 per gallon of regular. American workers and families know that talk is cheap, but unfortunately gas prices aren’t and won’t be until the Obama administration stops their all-out assault on domestic energy production.”
