Council OKs grant application

GOLIAD — The Goliad City Council voted 5-0 to approve a resolution authorizing the city to submit a community development block grant application for improvements to the sewer plant.

The application to the Texas Community Development Block Grant Program, which is due Oct. 26, will be for $275,000. The city would match $34,000 in funds.

Alderman Buddy Zavesky motioned to approve the resolution, and alderman Vicki Rubio seconded the motion. Mayor Jay Harvey and aldermen Ed Carter and Lionel Perez, and Mayor Jay Harvey also voted for the resolution. Alderman Alfred Perez was not in attendance at the Oct. 2 meeting.

In other action during the Oct. 2 meeting:

• council tabled action on appointing a director to the Goliad Municipal Development District;

• council approved a personnel policy for the City of Goliad Volunteer Fire Department;

• council approved the City of Goliad Volunteer Department bylaws.
