At about 6:45 p.m. on July 16, 2013, a white male suspect knocked on the door of the residence at 816 N. Church Street in Goliad, asking to talk to the homeowner, Gary Bellows. Both Mr. Bellows and his wife, Deborah Bellows, came to the door.
The suspect asked Gary Bellows if he was associated with a waste disposal site in Live Oak County. As Mr. Bellows stepped out of his front door, the suspect struck him with what was described as a club, knocking him to the ground. The suspect then began to flee on foot to waiting red Chevrolet pickup truck, chased by Mrs. Bellows. As the suspect ran to the truck, he also assaulted Mrs. Bellows.
The suspect then fled in the truck, which was driven by a second unknown suspect.
The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5’10’ tall, possibly balding with very short hair and several days’ growth of beard. The hair and beard were described as being brown with a reddish tint. A composite image of the suspect has been created by investigators.
The weapon was described as a billy club, about 12 inches in length, with a leather strap attached.
It is believed the assault may be related to the victim’s association with a disposal well site in Live Oak County.
