On March 6, Goliad County deputies received a report that someone had stolen more than $500 worth of copper wiring from a storage building on the Nesloney Ranch at 10444 U.S. Highway 183N. The theft occurred sometime between Christmas of 2013 and early March of this year.
Investigating officers found the missing copper had been stored in rolls in a shed. The suspects also cut a welding plug inside one of the storage sheds in an apparent effort to steal additional copper, but that copper was not removed. Additionally, wiring to the electric breaker for the shed was cut and an amount of aluminum wire was moved, but not taken.
