GOLIAD – Cub Scout Pack #64 held its first meeting and prepared boxes, which are located at area churches and businesses as part of Scouting for Food.

The Cub Scouts are asking the community to help with the food drive, which benefits the Goliad Food Bank.

Scouts will be going door-to-door on Nov. 3 to collect canned goods. Scouts are also selling popcorn as their annual fundraiser. They will be taking orders for the next two weeks.

On Thursday, Oct. 18, there will be a pack meeting and recruitment night. It is Fire Prevention month and members of the Goliad Volunteer Fire Department will be at the pack meeting. Those interested in joining Cub Scouts should make plans to attend the pack meeting at Goliad’s First United Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m.

Cub Scouts is open to boys in first through fifth grade. For more information about Cub Scouts, contact Cub Master Matt Bochat at 550-3357.
