Cuero bull, female sale set for Saturday

Cuero — The 24th annual All Breeds Bull and Female Sale, to be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Cuero Livestock Commission, has drawn approximately 40 bulls and 350 females.

The sale is sponsored by the DeWitt County Purebred Breeders Association and the DeWitt County Beef and Forage Committee.

Breeds of bulls to be offered include Angus, Charolais, Brangus, Angus Plus, ChiAngus, RomAngus, Simmental, Grey Brahman, Beefmaster, SimAngus, Hereford, Gelbvieh and Polled Hereford.

The female sale will feature bred, pairs and open heifers of F-1 Braford (many Tiger Stripes), Brangus, Beefmaster Type, Black Baldy, Brangus Baldy, Brahman, Simbrah Type and other crossbreds. Many of these heifers are 4-H/FFA Commercial Heifer prospects.

Bulls will sell first, followed immediately by the females. The bulls are between 15 and 37 months of age. A brucellosis test, fertility test and scrotal circumference measurement by a licensed veterinarian must be done within 30 days prior to the sale. Females will be between 8 months and 36 months of age. All females will be brucellosis tested and palpated within 30 days prior to the sale. Health papers on all cattle will be given to the buyers.
