The Goliad County Garden Club welcomed Lon Smith of Devereux Gardens during its January meeting.

Smith shared with the members the art of topiaries. He discussed how to get started shaping the plants and suggested a variety of plants to use.

Smith also suggested which garden tools to use and the type of potting soil that works best.

The club was served a variety of refreshments. LaNell Ressmann read the devotion about “Best Friends.” After a short business session, the meeting was adjourned.

The February meeting will be a road trip to the Four Seasons Garden Center in Victoria.
