BEEVIILE – The eighth-grade Beeville Trojans hosted the Port Lavaca Sandcrabs on Tuesday night in which the both squads were victorious.

The B team put up a fight, but it was Logan Harvey who stepped up as quarterback after AJ Gomez was injured in the second quarter. Harvey led the offense with a touchdown along with Timothy Rincon. Marcus Perez would end up sealing the victory with the final touchdown to make the score 22-12.

The O-line was led by Tiki Granados, Donald Shreve, Michael Carabajal, Ysidro Garza, Alex Quiroga and John Castilla.

The defense was led by Alan Bridge, Brady Campos, Darian Martinez, Jareth Stuart and Aaron Garza. The B team has won three straight games, which brings their record to 3-2.

The A team continued the success as they came out scoring on their first offensive series. Michael Virata would bust a 74-yard touchdown run on the third play from scrimmage. Virata would finish the night with seven carries and 108 yards rushing.

Quarterback Nick Gonzales completed four passes for 63 yards and two TD’s. Steve Barrera had eight carries for 60 yards rushing and two receptions for 46 yards and a TD. Bryon Barrera also added to the success of the offense with a touchdown of his own.

The defense was led by linebackers Kaden Morin and Dustin Torres. Justin Cantu, Jordan Cantu, and Steve Barrera would end up with fumble recoveries. Barrera scooped up one of the loose balls for a 34-yard touchdown return. Virata would close the game out with an interception. The Trojans caused four turnovers on the night.

“We are starting to see these kids believe in themselves every week. Port Lavaca had huge kids on their side, but we were the tougher team tonight,” said MMS coach Pat Flores.

“I am very proud of what these kids accomplished here tonight.”

The A team would improve their record to 3-2. Both teams will travel to play Flour Bluff next Tuesday.
