FCI-TR observes ‘National Correctional Workers’ week

On May 11, FCI Three Rivers marked the beginning of Correctional Workers Week by holding its annual Memorial Service in honor of the 24 Bureau of Prisons staff members who have been killed in the line of duty.

The FCI Three Rivers Honor Guard posted the colors followed by the signing of the National Anthem. The service included the reading of “Officer’s Creed” and individual recognition of the fallen officers. The ceremony concluded with a 21-gun salute and the playing of TAPS.

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan signed Proclamation 5187 creating “National Correctional Officers Week,” Since then, FCI Three Rivers Has observed that week to honor the work and sacrifice of correctional workers nationwide.
