AUSTIN— Falls City ISD educators Phyllis Jarzombek and Cathy Stolle were among more than 400 teachers and public school employees who met with state legislators to discuss key public education issues during the Association of Texas Professional Educators’ (ATPE) Lobby Day Feb. 11 at the Texas State Capitol.

“Our greatest reason for attending was to influence our lawmakers to restore public education funding that was cut during the last Legislature session,” said Falls City ATPE President Cathy Stolle, an elementary school teacher in the district. “We also want to see that the structure of our school finance system is able to support our growing student population across the state.”

In conjunction with Lobby Day, the teachers participated in a Political Involvement Training event to learn how to impact the political process and gain insight into complex education issues facing the 83rd Legislature.
