Fracking chemicals cause concern

I attended the Eagle Ford Shale Forum on April 19 and listened to many presentations of the hydrofracking boom in our counties. A speaker on the program asked if anyone in the audience had any concerns they wanted to talk about. I answered that I was concerned about the impact of fracking on the quality of our drinking water and air. He indicated that he was not qualified to answer and no one else on the program volunteered.

I suspect that it’s time for the folks of Live Oak, McMullen and Bee County to have a lot of conversations.

Personally, when the boom is on and after it’s over, I don’t want my drinking water or air polluted by at least 596 fracking chemicals, some of which are strong carcinogens and neurotoxins, and 40 percent of which will remain in the earth. I know that there are others who feel the same.
