PORTLAND – On Thursday evening, the Gregory-Portland Wildcats dealt the varsity Trojan baseball club an 11-1 five-inning loss.

The Trojan bats were kept in check as the Wildcat pitching held the Beeville boys to just three hits over the five innings.

Beeville’s Joe Rey Garza led off the game with a hit and got into scoring position for Clay Blackwell. Blackwell put the ball in play, and Garza scored the lone Beeville run. Garza went a perfect 3-3 on the night, collecting all of the Trojan base hits in the game.

Freshman Jonathon Huser went four innings for the Trojans on the mound and took the loss. Huser struck out four and gave up eight runs on nine hits in his three plus innings of work. Cameron Kremers pitched part of the fourth, giving up three hits and three runs in the loss.

The Trojans travel to play Victoria East on Friday night. On Tuesday, the Beeville boys will play the Port Lavaca Sandcrabs at Joe Hunter Field.
