The committee awarded 27 additional $1,000 scholarships to seniors from George West and Three Rivers High Schools. Go-Texan lifetime committee member Rip Wallace addressed the gathering made up of scholarship recipients, their parents, sponsors and supporters of Live Oak County Go-Texan team.
Wallace said the committee had another successful year as participants in the statewide Go-Texan contests and events with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in February and were able to provide more scholarships this year. “Now, it comes to the good part. We are especially proud to announce that our Live Oak County Go-Texan received a $15,000 scholarship for one of our students and we would like to lead with that. This was the one Houston picked out for us,” Wallace said as he introduced Patel.
“I plan to attend the University of Texas in Austin and major in electrical engineering. I would like to thank the sponsors for making all of this possible,” Patel said.
Katheryn Cansino was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. She said, “I plan to attend Baylor University in Waco and major in accounting.”
Others receiving $1,000 scholarships include: Ashley Cantu, Abigail Carachure, Douglas Caron, Rachel Dockery, Bo East, Gabriel Garcia, Alexis Guerro, Megan Hardwick, Kameron Harless, Heather Harvey, Holden Holm, Chayson Holt, Hanah Iley, Kelsey Johnson, Ty Klepac, Garret Luthringer, Lindsey McNeill, Marcus Miller, Megan Moore, Preston Pennington, Regina Pipin, Stephanie Saenz, Shelly Smith, Tyrell Umphres, Travis Walker and Devon Wilder.
