The rate for the 2012-13 fiscal year will be $1.2165 per $100 of taxable value.
According to Goliad ISD Superintendent Christy Paulsgrove, the increase was necessitated by the current litigation between Coleto Creek Power and Goliad County. Coleto Creek Power filed a lawsuit last month to lower its appraised value by approximately $100 million.
The Goliad ISD Board of Trustees, Goliad County Commissioners Court and the Goliad Appraisal were to meet Wednesday with attorneys to prepare for negotiations with Coleto Creek Power.
