GOLIAD – Ten units and 30 firefighters responded to a house fire Monday afternoon in the 4000 block of U.S. Highway 59 East in Goliad.

The Goliad, Ander-Weser, Fannin, Schroeder and Weesatche volunteer fire departments were dispatched to the blaze at the one-story home owned by Imelda Schoenherr.

The fire, which started in one of the bedrooms, took approximately an hour to extinguish. According to Goliad Fire Chief Alonzo Morales, the fire was started by a propane heater.
