MySouTex.com broke the story of Breland's resignation on Wednesday.
The Goliad City Council will vote on Breland’s resignation at its meeting Tuesday. Guthrie has a population of 10,000.
“Goliad knew I had committed to two years and I’ll be hitting that two-year mark on Oct. 1,” Breland said.
Breland was to tender her resignation to city council at Tuesday’s meeting. She said her employment contract in Guthrie was to be voted on during its city council meeting Tuesday.
“I wasn’t really surprised that she decided to move on,” Goliad Mayor Jay Harvey said Friday.
According to Harvey, the city planned to name an interim city administrator until the position will be filled.
“We’re going to look at all our options,” Harvey said. “There will be an application process and we’ll go from there.”
