GOLIAD – Following is a preview of the Class 2A girls 100-meter hurdles at Friday's and Saturday's UIL State Track and Field Championships at Austin's Mike A. Myers Stadium:

GOLIAD ATHLETE: Ashtin Zamzow

STARTING TIME: 6:45 p.m., Friday

FASTEST QUALIFYING TIME: 14.52 seconds by Goliad's Ashtin Zamzow

STATE RECORD: 13.23 by Dallas Bishop Dunne's Ashlee Williams in 2001

CLASS 2A RECORD: 13.84 by Lauren Bedrich of Rogers in 2013

PREVIEW: Texas A&M-bound Zamzow, who drew Lane 4, will try to become the first Goliad gold-medal winner since Amber Perry captured the Class 3A 400-meter dash in 2011.

Zamzow has the fastest qualifying time of the nine runners with a personal-best 14.52 at the Region IV-2A meet. Dallas Hampton Prep's Camri Austin (14.75) is the only other athlete in the race to have qualified below 15 seconds.

Breckenridge's Nocona Swindell (15.38) is the only returnee from last year's state meet. She finished fifth with a time of 15.42 in 2013.

The other qualifiers are Salado's Morgan Hill (15.07), Grandview's Jordan Nash (15.26), Garrison's Jasia Berry (15.36), Rice Consolidated's Riley Schneider (15.49), Newton's Jalia Franklin (15.71) and Littlefield's Ashley Dendy (15.80).

SYNOPSIS: A Zamzow victory would give the Tigerettes a big boost in their effort to win the team title.

NEXT PREVIEW: Goliad girls 800-meter relay team.
