Mark Williams, 20, the driver of the vehicle, and a 16-year-old passenger were transported by helicopter. One was flown on HALO-flight to Christus Spohn Memorial Hosptial in Corpus Christi. The second was flown on Airlife to San Antonio.
Both appeared to have non life-threatening injuries. A second 16-year-old in the vehicle was treated at the scene of the accident.
All three in the vehicle were from Three Rivers.
Llanas said witnesses said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 281.
Witnesses also said the vehicle first went to the left and then to the right into the ditch and then back over across the median into the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 281 before rolling over.
Also on the scene in addition to the DPS, were the Three Rivers Police Department, Three Rivers Volunteer Fire Department, Whitsett Volunteer Fire Department, Live Oak County Sheriff’s Office, Live Oak County Volunteer Fire Department and two units of the Acadian ambulance service.
