Workmen had to board up the front of a building at the intersection of North St. Mary’s and East Corpus Christi streets Monday after a pickup truck crashed into the building Friday night. The accident disrupted electric power to the immediate area when a utility pole was knocked down by the vehicle just before it hit the building. Officers were looking for two men and a woman who fled the scene right after the crash. Police reported that the occupants left behind one female passenger and a pickup truck belonging to an oil company.

BEEVILLE — City police officers are still looking for two men and a woman last seen leaving the scene of an accident early Saturday morning, Feb. 16.

According to Detective Sgt. Art Gamez, the three left behind a 2011 Ford F-350 pickup inside a building at the southeast corner of East Corpus Christi and North St. Mary’s streets, across from the courthouse, just after midnight.

When officers arrived at the scene, electric power and telephone lines were down, the traffic light at that intersection was not working and a utility pole had been damaged.

Gamez said one woman stayed behind at the scene but police were unable to get a name for the driver.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Gamez said the pickup was registered to an oil company working in the area.

The incident still is under investigation, and police expect to eventually identify the driver.
