Sixty years after graduation from A.C. Jones High School, the Class of 1953 gathered for another reunion. Last Friday night, April 5, at Shorty’s Lodge, they were treated to hors d’oeuvres and drinks, courtesy of the class. Their main focus was visiting and catching up on news.

A highlight of the evening was a presentation by Paula Duffy, director of the Joe Barnhart Scholarship Program, as she presented Michelle Keller. Michelle was the recipient of the Class of 1953 Scholarship in 2008, and she pursued her higher education at Coastal Bend College and UTSA. Also present for the introduction was Michelle’s mother, Mary Jane Keller. Attendees were also given schedules of the Bee County Living History Celebration events happening on Saturday, April 6.

On the evening of the 6th, the class gathered again at Shorty’s Lodge for an evening banquet. Included in the evening’s activities were the invocation by Bernard Henry, the recognition of deceased members by Betty Elder and JoAnn Hadwin and the presentation of messages from members unable to attend, which was read by Elbert Brown. A cake appropriately decorated was served to end an enjoyable evening of remembrances and renewal of friendships.
