JHS teams bring home gold at district and state competitions in Skills USA

District 12 Skills USA competition at Laredo Community College

On Feb. 8, A.C. Jones High students placed at the District 12 Skills USA competition at Laredo Community College. The following students placed:

Chapter 2461

Jonathan Gutierrez – 2nd place exhibit hall (garden bench);

Kurt Treviño – 1st place exhibit (bookcase);

Dallin Giron – 1st place exhibit (Blackhawk helicopter).

Also, Jonathan Gutierrez, Kurt Treviño, Dallin Giron and Loren Flores as a team entered an electrical display that placed 1st.

The team of Loren Flores, Jonathan Gutierrez, Kurt Treviño and Dallin Giron placed 1st in the Teamworks division, and in chapter business procedures, the team of Tony Gonzales, Jonathan Gutierrez, Loren Flores, Dallin Giron and Kurt Treviño placed 1st.

Chapter 2809

The team of Tony Gonzales and Jason Martinez placed 2nd in carpentry. Clarissa Ibarra brought home 2nd place in plumbing, and Juan Ibarra took 2nd place in masonry.

At the state competition at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi on April 6, the results were as follows:

Kurt Treviño – 1st place exhibit (bookcase);

Dallin Giron – 1st place exhibit (Blackhawk helicopter)

The Electrical Display exhibit won first place for the team of Jonathan Gutierrez/Kurt Treviño/Dallin Giron/Loren Flores.

The Giron/Flores/Treviño/Gutierrez team also participated in the Teamworks category.

Clarissa Ibarra was a participant in the plumbing technical exam.

A.C. Jones High School teachers for construction technology are Agapito Garcia and Martin Montez.
