VICTORIA – The junior varsity softball Lady Trojans were edged by the host West Warriors on Friday night 11-7.

The Lady Trojans scored first with two runs in the first as Caitlyn Ortiz reached on a single and Christina Alcorta duplicated the base hit to put runners at first and third for power-hitting Tif’Ni Puebla. Puebla did not disappoint as she smashed a double, bringing in both Lady Trojan runners.

The Lady Trojans also got two runs in the second as Samantha Salazar doubled in the frame and Teresa Treviño stroked a single. Adalia Suniga blasted a double to plate both runners.

Later in the contest, Sophia Galindo reached on a walk but later scored as Salazar came up with the RBI single. Treviño and Suniga teamed up again as Treviño single and Suniga’s second double of the night brought her home.

It was a good offensive display, but the Warriors put on a show at the plate and had 11 Lady Warriors touch home in the tilt.

The Beeville girls had a doubleheader on Monday against Moody and lost both contests. The first game was a time limit affair, and the Noody girls belted the Beeville girls 14-2 in six innings.

The second regulation contest went six innings as the Moody JV blasted the Lady Trojans 15-4. Beeville’s hitting highlight of that game was the solo home run off the top of the left-center field fence by Ciara Garcia.
