The visiting Victoria East JV softball team jumped on the Lady Trojans early for a 7-0 lead through three innings on Tuesday night. However, the Lady Trojans had some final inning heroics up their sleeves as they battled to a 8-8 tie with the Titans.

The Beeville girls definitely saved their best efforts for the last inning of the contest.

The Titans scored three runs in the top of the second and followed that with four runs in the third for a quick 7-0 lead. A single run crossed the plate for the visitors in their half of the fourth but the Beeville girls finally scored with a single run of their own in the home half of the frame.

Heading into the fifth and final (time considerations) inning, the Lady Trojan JV squad was down, 8-1.

The Beeville girls held the Titans scoreless in the top of the fifth, and were down to their last chance.

The silent Beeville bats awoke as Adrianna Baltazar led off with a single. Jasmine Soliz followed with another base hit and the rally was on. A walk to Alyssa Bates loaded the bases for Andrea Briseno, who smashed a double to bring in three runs.

Tif’ni Puebla and Celeste Contreras followed with base hits to drive in another couple of runs. Alexis Pelitire added one more single to the rally and Baltazar knocked in the final run of the inning on a fielder’s choice.

The Lady Trojans had scored seven runs in the final frame to come from behind to gain the 8-8 tie.

The JV girls traveled to Floresville on Friday to tangle with the Jags. On Tuesday night, the Beeville girls will host Port Lavaca Calhoun with the first pitch set for 5 p.m.
