RUNGE – With rain and storms blanketing the area on Friday night, the Runge Yellow Jackets hosted the Medina Bobcats for their annual Homecoming game. After a closely played first half, the Yellow Jackets pulled away from the Bobcats in the second half on their way to a 34-12 victory to extend their regular season winning streak to 5-0. Runge head coach Ken Wallace was unavailable for comment at press time.

The first half saw both teams score once, with a 6-6 score standing until the second half. The Yellow Jackets scored twice in the third quarter. The first came on the legs of Jason Medina as he scored on the ground, with Ryan Saucedo adding the PAT. The second touchdown came thanks to a run by Rob Molina to put the lead at 19-6 after the missed PAT. With the Bobcats only scoring once in the fourth quarter, the Yellow Jackets closed it out with two more rushing touchdowns, one by Dylan Torres and another by Jeric Esparza. Coupled with a two-point conversion by Esparza and another extra point by Saucedo, Runge managed to put the final tally at 34-12. Additional statistics for the game were unavailable at press time.

This week, the Yellow Jackets will have their Bye week. Next week, Runge will host Woodsboro to open District 14-1A Division II play. Kickoff in Runge is set for Friday, October 12 at 7:30 p.m.
