Mr. Coley was born April 1, 1926, in Haynesville, La., to Nora Dunham and Joe Coley. He married Regena Mulinix in Alice on Jan. 19, 1951, and served in the U.S. Navy. He was an iron worker in construction by trade and was a Baptist, a past member of the American Legion, a life member of the VFW Post No. 9170, and a member of the Iron Workers Union and Pipefitter Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Nora Coley; three brothers, Robert, George and John Roy Coley; a sister, Bonnie Long; and a grandson, Cody Morgan.
Survivors include his wife, Regena Coley of Beeville; two sons, Charlie Coley and George Coley, both of Beeville; two daughters, Nora Lee Raciot of Vermont and Martha Morgan of Beeville; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Coleman (Millie) Mulinix of Corpus Christi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons chapel.
The funeral service was conducted there at 10 o’clock Thursday morning, Oct. 13, with Rev. Homer Hanna officiating. Musical selections included “A Father’s Love” and “Amazing Grace.” Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Don Coburn, Roy Coley, Arthur Smith, Robert Doubrava Jr., Juan Alcorta and Wade Banta.
Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
