Kenneth Wright, retired chief executive officer of the San Antonio National Band of Refugio, will deliver the charge to the graduates, and Gary Lamar, former athletic coach for Refugio High School and coordinator for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization, will deliver the sermon.
Music will be under the direction of Marcie Peterson, band director for Runge High School.
Marcie will also be the featured soloist. She will sing a special selection by Sandy Patti entitled Blessed Assurance.
The scripture reader will be RHS senior Estefania Ordaz. Colton Langridge, former Woodsboro High graduate from the class of 2007, will offer the prayer for the graduates.
“A cordial invitation to attend is extended to all present and former students of Refugio and Woodsboro High School, along with the family members, guest and friends of this year’s graduating class,” said the Rev. John Alsbrooks, pastor of United Methodist Church. “A special invitation is also extended to the residents of Refugio and Woodsboro community.”
The baccalaureate, a non-denominational ecumenical worship service, is designed and purposed to invoke the Lord’s guidance and direction on the graduates as they pursue their life endeavors following their graduation.
It is the religious community’s way of showing its support for the graduates and extending best wishes to them.
