On Jan. 8, the A.C. Jones High School welding class took home some top honors at the sixth annual Pipe Fitting Rodeo welding competition at the Nueces County Richard M. Borchard Fairgrounds in Robstown.

Beeville placed first in the pipe fitting/ welding division, and first and third in the plate welding division.

Pipe welders representing Beeville were Clayton Tindol, Ryan Vasquez, Roberto Morales and Dustin McCabe. Plate welders representing Beeville were Ryan Vasquez and Dustin McCabe.

Thirteen fellow welding students accompanied the competition welders to Robstown along with their welding instructor Mike Mylnar, who received an award from the American Welding Society in recognition of quality instruction performance devoted to the promotion and expansion of welding skills and knowledge.
