Kenedy Lions sweep Pettus Eagles

Friday March 22nd the Kenedy Lions hosted the Pettus Eagles in district 31-A baseball action.

In the first game the JV Lions would pick up the win as they won 11-6 against the JV Eagles.

Robby Gutierrez started for the Lions going 2 innings giving up 5 runs.

Bryant Tiemann pitched a scoreless inning and Jordan Valdez finished up the last inning giving up 1 run.

Valdez would lead the Lions at the plate hitting a triple and a single. Travis Vickery, Tiemann, Nathan De Los Santos, and Javier Hernandez would all get one hit in the victory.

In the Varsity game Rolie Zepeda would follow up his no hitter from Falls City with a 1 hitter against the Eagles in the 15-0 victory.

Zepeda would strike out 9 and walk 5 in his five innings of work.

The Lions would open the game with 4 runs in the first and then blow it open with a 10 run inning in the second.

Zepeda, Dominic Cruz, Eddie Villarreal, and Jacob Asebedo all went 2for3.

The four of them would account for 8 of the 15 runs scored. Isaac Cruz and Jeremy Rodriguez would both go 2for4.

JD De Los Santos would go 1for2. RayJ Garza would round off the offensive attack for the Lions going 1for3.

The Lions would register 14 hits in 28 at bats while scoring 15 runs.

With the victory the Lions move to 4-0 in district play and 13-2 overall for the season.

Next up for this week is Three Rivers there and then a trip to Port Aransas to break the first place tie with the Marlins.
