Miss Karnes County Miss Jennifer Kotara and Little Miss Lauren Dziuk, representing the Kenedy Rotary Club, traveled to Pleasanton this past weekend for the Cowboy Homecoming Festival and Parade. The ladies said it was a great event, but just a tad chilly for riding on the float. The ride up and back gave them time to visit about the upcoming fall season and are looking forward to doing some community service projects soon, so look for some great things to happen.

On Sunday, the Kenedy Rotary held their annual Chicken Dinner Fund Raiser at Joe Gulley Park. The club cooked over 350 chicken halves and served beans and potato salad to go, in the park. Personally, I’ve never seen three huge pits completely full of chicken halves before! I’m not sure I would have believed it if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes. While the men slaved over the hot ovens starting early Sunday morning, the ladies got together around 10:30 to begin dishing out the plates. The club is always doing something, having fun, and looking for ways to give more scholarship money to our kids. Thanks to everyone who bought tickets and supported our project.
